Description
Selected from the cellars of the renowned independent bottler Signatory Vintage, this North British 2007 is a true ambassador for single grain.
Tasting notes : the nose, with notes of sweet almonds, gives way to pastry aromas.
Fruity notes are also present, notably apricot. The palate is fuller, with a roundness that gives way to a finesse enhanced by notes of nuts. A very slight vegetable bitterness on the finish adds complexity to this single cask.
Appellation : The North British distillery is world-renowned for its grain whiskies, which feature in some of the world's most popular blends. Part of the closed group of 6 grain distilleries in the Lowlands, this whisky is characterised by finesse and elegance, further enhanced by its unique cask.
Signatory Vintage has built up an excellent reputation among malt connoisseurs. The creator of the famous The Prestonfield range, it is best known for its raw cask and non-chill filtered bottlings, allowing whisky lovers to enjoy their whisky in as natural a state as possible.
Did you know ?
According to the Scotch Whisky Association, "single grain is the product of a single grain distillery". It originated in Scotland in the first half of the 19th century, following the invention of the patent still by Aeneas Coffey. Originally the grain was unmalted barley, but gradually it was replaced by a mixture of cereals, with a high proportion of maize, also containing wheat, malted barley, unmalted barley and rye.
