Pairings : enjoy as an after-dinner drink for beginners or as an aperitif for everyone. It goes perfectly with fresh curd cheese sweetened with honey.
Tasting notes : This Armagnac has a golden colour. The nose is precise and rich with aromas of ripe fruit and plum, with hints of vanilla and citrus fruit. Full-bodied on the palate, with ripe fruit aromas and a lovely woody, spicy structure in the background.
Vinification and vineyard :
The grapes come exclusively from the estate, Château De Laubade, located on the heights of the village of Sorbets, a stone's throw from Nogaro in the Gers. The wine is distilled on site for a month, variety by variety, in a large Armagnac still. The blend is made from more than 15 different eaux-de-vie, the youngest of which is 12 years old and some of which come from very old reserves. The wine is aged exclusively in 400-litre barrels of pedunculate black oak from Gascony.
Appellation : Château de Laubade, built in 1870, is today the leading Armagnac estate, comprising 105 hectares of vines in a single block. It is part of a sustainable model, using the resistant Baco, the thrifty regional still and local oak trees. Jean-Jacques Lesgourgues was quick to promote soil improvement, with 600 ewes familiar with the property. The cultivation of faba beans and alfalfa in the rows of vines also encourages the production of nitrogen, guaranteeing the development and good health of the plots.
